The Asian Development Bank is providing $754 million for the rehabilitation of roads and railways in Afghanistan.
The money will be used to upgrade up to 600 kilometers of roads and build new tracks and stations to complement a newly completed train line connecting the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif to Uzbekistan.
This new assistance package brings ADB’s total contributions to the reconstruction of Afghanistan’s physical infrastructure to more than $1.7 billion.
