Algeria officially lifted Feb. 24 its 19-year-old state of emergency following demonstrations calling for political reforms, APS news agency reports, citing a statement from the president’s office. The move represents only partial victory as Interior Minister Dahou Ould Kabila has announced that protests would still be banned in the capital, Algiers, USA Today reports.
