ASEAN Urges Clean Myanmar Polls

Leaders from Southeast Asian governments called on Myanmar to conduct fair and inclusive elections, Reuters reports. They made the appeal at the end of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations meeting in Hanoi.

The officials also urged Myanmar to collaborate with ASEAN and the United Nations when it holds its elections.

ASEAN leaders, in a separate statement, also urged wealthy nations to establish “specific and binding targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” and provide climate aid to poor nations.
