Ashton Names EEAS Managing Director of Africa

European Union foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton has named Nicholas Westcott as the European External Action Service’s managing director for Africa.

Westcott brings to EEAS an extensive diplomatic experience in Africa. He is the British high commissioner to Ghana and nonresident ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo.

Ashton has yet to appoint a managing director for global and multilateral issues.
