Global food prices may continue to rise in the next months as efforts to boost food production through a number of projects in Asia face roadblocks. Some of the projects, which include developing underused or unused farmlands in Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines, are being delayed or dropped amid the lingering effects of the financial crisis, The Wall Street Journal says, citing a report by the Philippine-based International Rice Research Institute. Domestic issues such as land ownership disputes are also holding back other investments and projects, the newspaper says.
