Alex Carle is the director of International Programmes & Partnerships at the British Red Cross, where she's worked since 2013. She has a master's in international affairs and diplomacy as well as child psychology. She started out as a child protection specialist in New Zealand working with recidivist youth offenders. She then worked for over 10 years with nongovernment organizations living in contexts such as Haiti, Dominican Republic, Iraq, Syria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, and Kenya for over 10 years.
