Augusto Santos Silva has a PhD in sociology from ISCTE-IUL and did his aggregation in social sciences at the University of Porto, where he is a professor at the faculty of economics. He has held various university management positions, including chairman of the Scientific Council of his faculty and pro-rector of his university. He is the author of several books in the field of the epistemology of social sciences, the sociology of culture and development, and political thought.
