With 20 years experience in the nonprofit sector, Crook is one of the principle architects of the Guidelines for Effective Philanthropic Engagement, and recently brought together several top foundations to pilot an advocacy campaign in support of effective local CSOs.

David Dodman

David Dodman is the director of the Human Settlements research group at the International Institute for Environment and Development based in London and a teaching fellow in the Development Planning Unit at University College London. David and his colleagues work in partnership with southern civil society organizations, local and national governments, and international organizations in low- and middle-income countries to address urban challenges of poverty and vulnerability.

David Evendon-Challis

David Evendon-Challis is chief scientific officer and head of R&D for Bayer’s Consumer Health Division and is a member of the Consumer Health Executive Committee. He is responsible for worldwide innovation and product development, from scoping and ideation through delivering innovation to the market via internal and external development. Over the past 17 years, David has worked across regulatory, communications and public affairs, sustainability, and product development. He joined Bayer in January 2020 from RB where he spent eight years in R&D leadership roles of increasing responsibility. Prior to this, he worked at companies including Kimberly-Clark, Salterbaxter MSL, and the Engine Group.

David is a Washington-based journalist and former Devex staffer who spearheaded Devex's "Obama's Foreign Aid Reform" blog. He has written for the Christian Science Monitor, Pittsburgh Post Gazette, SportsIllustrated.com, San Francisco Chronicle, Foreign Policy magazine, and the Washington Monthly. David holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and a graduate degree from Georgetown University.

David Gold is co-founder and CEO of Global Health Strategies, a global health communications and advocacy consulting firm. He is an attorney by training, but started his career in advocacy working as an AIDS treatment activist with ACT UP and as medical information director at Gay Men’s Health Crisis. Prior to co-founding GHS in 2002, he co-founded AVAC and served as vice president for policy and public support at IAVI.

David Hall-Matthews

David Hall-Matthews is the managing director of Publish What You Fund, a global campaign for aid transparency and information. He was previously a senior lecturer (associate professor) in international development at the University of Leeds. His research focused on different aspects of governance and accountability, including food security, democracy, corruption, colonial administration and the global political economy of development. David has taught at the London School of Economics, SOAS and Oxford University, and worked as a research fellow at the Centre for the Study of Administration of Relief, New Delhi.
