Shaya holds a bachelor of Journalism from Bond University, Australia, and a masters of International Relations from the University of Saint Joseph in Lebanon.

Shekhar Saxena

Shekhar Saxena

Dr. Shekhar Saxena is a visiting professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. A psychiatrist by training, he worked at the World Health Organization for 20 years holding the position of director of the department of mental health and substance abuse. His expertise includes providing advice and technical assistance to policymakers on prevention and management of mental, developmental, neurological, and substance use disorders and suicide prevention. He has authored more than 300 scientific papers, including in high impact journals.

Shingai Machingaidze is an epidemiologist and public health specialist. She has developed and led public health and clinical research programs that build the capacity of Africa-based scientists and institutions. She is currently the senior science officer for Africa CDC in the office of the director, as well as the International Conference on Public Health in Africa secretariat lead.
