The United States Agency for International Development is considering Bangladesh?s inclusion in the Millennium Challenge Account, a move that translates to $100 million additional foreign aid. The MCA offers supplemental development aid to governments performing well, on top of the annual assistance they receive. The United States noted Bangladesh?s achievements in the economic and social sectors. Congressman Joseph Crowley stated that "Bangladesh has demonstrated such a strong ability to effectively apply development funds."
