Bezos Earth Fund to grant $100M for AI solutions to climate challenges

Billionaire Jeff Bezos’ climate fund is offering $100 million in grants as part of a “grand challenge” to fund artificial intelligence-powered solutions to climate change and nature loss.

The Bezos Earth Fund seeks to “inspire deeper collaboration between groups on the front line of environmental solutions and leading AI technology providers.” Applications open in May and are open to projects anywhere in the world.

In its first round, the challenge seeks to advance solutions in three areas: biodiversity conservation, sustainable proteins, and power grid optimization. It will also include a “wild card” category for ideas that fall outside those areas. Subsequent rounds of the challenge will address other priorities.
