The First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya, will become a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for education and social inclusion, the agency announced Nov. 13. UNESCO Director-General said Biya will formally receive the title during a ceremony at the agency’s headquarters in Paris. Kolchiro Matsuura said the designation as Goodwill Ambassador reflects the long-standing support of Biya for inclusive education, especially for girls, young women, orphans and the underprivileged, and also for HIV/AIDS research, treatment, education and prevention.
