The meeting also included discussions about the state of Canada’s economy. Van Loan emphasized that the government remains focused on efforts to create more jobs and boost growth. These steps, he said, include opening new markets for the country’s businesses and creating more opportunities for Canadian workers through free trade agreements with other countries such as India. The start of free trade negotiations between Canada and India were announced by the two countries’ leaders at the sidelines of the latest G-20 summit in Seoul, South Korea.
