Canada will be giving nearly $188,000 in relief aid to those who have been affected by fierce typhoons in Vietnam. The funds will be distributed through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, and have been earmarked for the restoration and rebuilding of houses and other forms of infrastructure in the region. A large part of the aid package will be apportioned to Central Vietnam, whose provinces suffered the most damage from typhoon Pabuk. The Canada Fund was set up by the Canadian International Development Agency to buttress Vietnam’s local communities, mostly by supporting development projects implemented by local and non-government agencies in the country.
