Consultancy is a highly sought-after career path, offering flexibility to work across diverse projects and the opportunity to drive impactful change. However, it’s a role that often requires years of experience and specialized knowledge, particularly in fields like gender equality and social inclusion, or GESI.
In this interview, we spoke with Racha Ammati, an international GESI consultant whose journey to consultancy was shaped by continuous learning. Throughout her 10-year career, she pursued two master’s degrees — one in interdisciplinary gender studies and another in international cooperation — and a doctorate in political science, public administration, and international relations — a commitment she credits with equipping her with the expertise needed to excel in her role today.
“I've been studying all my career,” she said, which has taken “a lot of self-discipline and motivation, ” she added while also crediting “a strong support system of mentors that guided me in my career.”
