Cash crunch forces WFP to slash Zambia aid

The World Food Program plans to prune food rations to some half a million Zambians due to funding shortage. β€œIn March or April we will be forced to stop distributing food to some of the most disadvantaged people in Zambia – such as orphans and patients undergoing treatment for AIDS,” WFP Zambia Country Director David Stephenson said. The agency requires $29 million to finance its relief efforts this year and without the amount, the agency expects to implement major cuts to its operations.
