Devex Jobs: Career advice from an insurtech startup founder

Stacy Edgar began her global development career wanting to make people’s lives better. Though she’s now in the private sector, the CEO and co-founder of the health benefits platform Venteur says she is still driven by a similar purpose.

“I don't see it necessarily as I've left development; it's more of a continuation,” Edgar said of her current work, which aims to build a better health benefits system for American companies and employees.

Founded last year, Venteur’s platform equips employers with tools to provide benefits to its workforce, but employees are able to choose which benefits plan works best for them. The startup was one of 10 companies chosen for the third UnitedHealthcare Accelerator Powered by Techstars, an accelerator program that focuses on digital health innovation.
