November 2025 has been a busy and critical month for global development, dominated by major international summits such as the 30th U.N. Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil, and the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
COP30 linked climate action with social justice, producing the Global Mutirão, which aims to mobilize $1.3 trillion annually by 2035 for climate action, and the Belem political package, which significantly scaled up climate finance and cemented the requirement for a “just transition” that integrates social protection, decent work, and equity into climate policy. While G20 leaders, despite the U.S. boycott of the summit, pushed for solidarity, equality, and sustainability as key pillars for achieving inclusive growth.
