It’s a new year but it starts off filled with old challenges — war is still raging in Ukraine, COVID-19 continues to lurk around the corner like the holiday guest who’s overstayed their welcome, and billions around the world still bear the weight of hunger, inflation, climate change, and conflict.
We’ll be covering the development ramifications of all this in the year ahead, but first let’s take a moment to reflect on what drives the development community: The desire to help people. It can feel like an impossible undertaking and it’s riddled with problems, but at its core, development is about humanity and hope.
So as we step into 2023, let’s remember that there are a lot of people out there who want to do good, and do it well.
