Yesterday, we staged WASH Works, our parallel event at the United Nations Water Conference, with some pretty fervent debate. Incredibly, the last time the U.N. held such an event, former U.S. President Richard Nixon held office, the World Trade Center became the world’s tallest building, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade, Devex didn’t exist, and neither did most of our reporters.

Water in crisis! That was the name of one of our panels on water, sanitation and hygiene, or WASH, and it couldn’t be truer. We heard this week that 2 billion people don’t have clean drinking water, and 3.6 billion can’t access safely managed sanitation.
