Egypt is doing well in terms of its economic reforms but it will take working class Egyptians a generation to feel the benefits, a top World Bank official said at the weekend. While hailing Egyptian government economic reforms, the World Bank’s newly appointed managing director, Juan Jose Daboub, said that there are enormous internal and external challenges in Egypt that still need to be dealt with. In other news, a woman aged 25 has died of bird flu, the 20th death in Egypt from the disease since the deadly virus arrived in the country in early 2006, the Health Ministry said on March 4; 46 Egyptians have tested positive for bird flu over the past two years.
