    Some 2,000 people in El Salvador and Nicaragua were evacuated due to torrential rains. A strengthening low-pressure system could become the first named storm of the Pacific hurricane season this year, Reuters reports. The system was expected to develop into a tropical storm May 30, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
