El Salvador’s effort to better deliver high-quality primary health care to its population has received funding from the Inter-American Development Bank. IDB approved a USD60 million loan to finance the construction and refurbishment of primary health units across the Latin American country.

In addition, the loan will be used to train health professionals, develop tools and information systems for managing patients’ referrals, and design and implement local social engagement strategies.

IDB will also provide support to strengthen El Salvador’s Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare.
