Emergency medical teams are starting to leave Haiti even as on-the-ground clinics expect a new wave of patients seeking health care and second operations, the Wall Street Journal reports. The U.S. will pull out its medical team from a field hospital near Gheskio, an HIV/AIDS clinic in Port-au-Prince. Dr. Jean William Pape, founder of the clinic, told the WSJ that local doctors are now bracing themselves to attend to thousands of patients in need of second surgeries. He said that up to 30 percent of emergency surgeries done in the immediate aftermath of the Jan. 12 earthquake need to be redone because of infections.
