    The European Commission has allocated 10 million euros (USD13 million) to help contain epidemics in the developing world.

    Some 3.6 million people living in areas at high risk of epidemics will benefit from the funding. The initiative will focus on prevention and response to diseases with an epidemic potential such as meningitis, measles, cholera, yellow fever and dengue.
