A local nongovernmental organization in Ghana is in a dispute with an international organization over fair wages for staff.
The dispute centers around a project that was itself focused on empowering workers — a five-year program funded by the United States Bureau of International Labor Affairs working to protect women and girls from exploitation in Ghana’s cocoa sector.
CARE USA was the primary grant holder, with the CARE Ghana country office taking over management of the project. Ghana-based Youth Opportunity & Transformation in Africa, or YOTA, was one of two implementing partners.
