The first-ever Agahi Awards for excellence in journalism were handed out March 28 in Pakistan. The prizes recognized outstanding reporting in various categories, including pressing issues related to development such as conflict, health and human rights.
The award is meant to help encourage responsible reporting and improve investigative journalism capacity in Pakistan, according to Amir Jahangir, CEO of Mishal Pakistan, the initiative’s chief organizer.
The full list of award recipients is posted online. The winners were chosen by an evaluation committee of senior media and development professionals from around the world, including Devex editor Rolf Rosenkranz.
