The food crisis task force created by the United Nations started working on its “comprehensive framework for action” that would involve short- and long-term programs to tackle food shortages. The group comprises the top officials of 15 U.N. agencies, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and is under the leadership of U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. It will lay the groundwork for the high-level gathering on food security of the Food and Agriculture Organization, which will take place in Rome from June 3 to June 5.
