The French Development Agency, or AFD, has approved €350 million ($488.41 million) worth of financing for 17 development projects, including an education initiative in Senegal and a power plant rehabilitation scheme in Ghana.
The funding, which was approved July 7 by the AFD, includes the following allocations:
€8 million for an education and vocational training project in Senegal.
€5 million for a hydro-agricultural development project in Chad.
€9 million in grant to help improve sanitation services in Madagascar.
€50 million in loan for the rehabilitation of a water plant in Ghana.
€62.5 million for the construction of a dam in Mauritius.
€100 million in loan and €300,000 in grant for a solar power project in Morocco.
€14.295 million in grant for an economic development program in Afghanistan.
€3 million in grant for a farming program in Guniea.
€2 million to support Togo’s 2011 economic and financial program.
€3.05 million worth of guarantee for loans to small and medium-sized enterprises in Togo.
€4.13 million in grant for education development in Tanzania.
€14 million in grant to subsidize interest rates of an AFD loan given to Uganda for the Kampala–Lake Victoria water and sanitation project.
€4.2 million in grant to improve drinking water suppy in Comoros.
€45 million in loan to support Mauritania’s power sector reform program
€4 million for the Association of Francophone Universities to help develop distance teacher training in sub-Saharan Africa.
€4.5 million to the International Organization of Francophonie for the integration of teaching in national languages into education systems in sub-Saharan Africa.
€20 million to finance energy rehabilitation in buildings in Thailand.
