The Gadhafi International Charity and Development Foundation has pledged USD50 million to help construct 1,250 houses in the Gaza Strip. The amount will be administered by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
“This generous donation should enable UNRWA to make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of families,” said Peter Ford, representative of UNRWA’s commissioner-general.
Ford said Israel should speed up approval for U.N. projects in the Palestinian territory in order for the money to be completely utilized, DPA reports through Haaretz.com.
