Garrett: Development Progress is Fragile

There is no end in sight yet for the financial crisis in the U.S. and its impact could likely get worse in the coming months. But that is not enough reason for the U.S. to ignore international pleas for additional aid to help poor nations, according to Laurie Garrett, senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations. Doing so, she stresses, could overturn development achievements in these nations such as improved life expectancy.
