The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit and Agence Française de Développement are contributing €6 million ($8.7 million) each to a water and sanitation project in Southern Sudan’s Yei county.
The project aims to build the capacities of the Southern Sudanese Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation’s staff and improve the livelihoods of more than 20,000 people in the county, Sudanvotes reports.
GIZ has been pursuing partnerships with other donors to bolster the water and sanitation sector in Africa. It also has an ongoing cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency for related projects in Kenya, Uganda and Zambia.
