China continues to receive messages of sympathy and offers of assistance from the international community four days after one of its eastern provinces was rocked by a powerful quake, Xinhua News reports. The leaders of Japan, the Netherlands and Macedonia joined various world leaders and leading international figures in expressing solidarity with the Chinese government and victims of the earthquake.
Meanwhile, blankets, tents, food and other aid supplies have already reached the affected Qinghai province, The Wall Street Journal says. News agencies also report that Chinese President Hu Jintao visited the quake-devastated region April 18.
