The Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria has committed roughly USD8.9 million in assistance to Yemen. The grant will be used to bolster Yemeni initiatives and projects in the second stage of a program to fight AIDS, which will be launched in September 2008. The agreement between the fund and the Arab state was cemented during a meeting between Yemeni minister of public health and population Dr. Abdul-Karim Ras?e and the Global Fund’s regional director Hind al-Khatib. To date, the fund has helped more than 120 different countries in the fight against the three deadly diseases.
