Kenya is set to get a three-year $70 million grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as per the latest announcement from the organization. “The second phase of Kenya’s HIV grant is going forward,” according to fund spokeswoman Rosie Vanek. The grant is a follow-up to a similar financing arrangement worth $37 million, which concluded this year. Kenya, however, did not get the last $10 million because it failed to submit the necessary documents on time. Vanek said “the results from the audit did not come back until after Phase 1 (the first grant period) had closed,” adding that the review did not find any wrongdoing on the part of the Kenyan government.
