U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has appointed Thomas Adams as Haiti special coordinator. Adams will oversee the U.S. government’s engagement with the quake-ravaged nation, including diplomatic relations and the implementation of a reconstruction strategy. He previously served as U.S. coordinator of assistance to Europe and Eurasia from 2005 to 2008.
Meanwhile, the Senate, on Sept. 29, has confirmed Donald Steinberg as deputy administrator and Nancy Lindborg as assistant administrator for democracy, conflict, and humanitarian assistance at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Also confirmed Wednesday were Mimi Alemayehou, Edward Brehm and Johnnie Carson as members of the African Development Foundation’s board of directors.
