The international community can only make progress on climate finance targets by engaging the communities most affected by climate change.
That’s according to Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, an executive director at the International Monetary Fund who is also the United Nations special envoy on financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Speaking at Devex’s Climate + Finance event in London on Tuesday, he said local voices need to shape how climate funds are used, explaining that this approach is not just more inclusive, but also more effective.
