Anita Kouhavey-Eklu was thrilled when she learned earlier this year that she’d been awarded a Heroines of Health Award.
As Integrate Health’s deputy country director for Togo, she has dedicated her career to improving equity in health care for women and minority groups and making sure they are in control of the decisions that affect them.
“I didn’t expect it,” she said of the award from Women in Global Health, an international network focused on gender equity in global health. “I was really surprised and really so happy about it because it represents recognition for all the work I’ve done.”
