How the NGO community will play a role at COP21

The 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference is officially underway in Paris and the international community is seeking an unprecedented globally binding climate deal.

As heads of state work towards finalizing an agreement, members from the nonprofit and civil society sectors will be directly engaged in the process. Ahead of COP21, Devex sat down with Heather Coleman, climate change policy manager at Oxfam America, to find out what role Oxfam will play this week.

Coleman said that many developing countries don’t have the technical expertise or capacity to fully engage with the climate discussions in Paris and that Oxfam will have representatives “sitting on their country delegations doing the negotiations.”
