Once a pioneering champion of security and justice assistance, the U.K. Department for International Development’s programming in that area is now in dire need of “refreshing.”
This is according to the latest assessment published by the Independent Commission for Aid Impact. In an extensive review of DfID’s security and justice programs, the aid watchdog prompted the department to adopt “a more focused and realistic” approach.
Support for security and justice has gained substantial importance in the U.K. aid portfolio in recent years, with DfID rolling out ambitious security and justice programs in dozens of fragile and conflict-affected states.
