IDA provides hefty credit to Yemen

The International Development Association, the World Bank’s lending arm designed to aid the world’s poorest countries, has agreed to underpin the third phase of Yemen’s Social Fund for Development (SFD) project by providing the country with USD60 million. The credit is the third in a series that has already afforded Yemen with USD30 million and USD75 million during the first two phases. The SFD has become the leading development agency in Yemen, supporting 3,260 projects across the country, totaling USD230 million. More donors are expected to pitch in with contributions, given the SFD’s strong record.
