The Inter-American Development Bank is providing USD20 million to help reduce transportation costs and improve road safety in Guyana. The country will use the money to expand a section of the East Bank Demerara Main Road, which is one of Guyana’s principal highways. The expansion of the road from two to four lanes is expected to reduce traffic congestion and the number of traffic accidents in the area.
