The Inter-American Development Bank remains one of the biggest multilateral development banks in the Latin America and Caribbean region. In 2023, the bank made 6,161 contract awards worth a total of $2.6 billion. This is an increase from $2.5 billion in 2022.
The majority of the contracts in 2023, worth $2.5 billion, went to consulting firms and goods and works providers. The remainder went to individual consultants, which this article will not be focusing on.
Devex used the data available in IDB’s data portal. It’s worth noting that IDB does not publicly add contracts for works, goods, and services with values below $25,000.
