The Inter-American Development Bank will lend up to USD600 million to Jamaica in 2010, Daniel Zelikow, the bank’s executive vice president, said following a meeting with Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding. IDB’s 2010 priorities in Jamaica include assisting the implementation of fiscal management reforms, enhancing credit markets, improving the country’s tax system and supporting its social programs. The bank already approved approximately USD200 million worth of new loans that target education reforms and economic improvements in the country.
