IFAD Helps Boost Farm Business in Sri Lanka

Smallholder farmers, women, poor households and young people living in Sri Lanka’s rural communities will benefit from a U.N.-backed project to improve livelihoods and boost income of some 58,000 farming households in the country. The International Fund for Agricultural Development will provide a USD25 million loan to Sri Lanka’s National Agribusiness Development Program that aims to increase farmers’ income by up to 30 percent and to involve them in the process and marketing of their products.
