The United States government earmarked USD2.5 million for Tajikistan, as humanitarian and energy crises continue to imperil the country’s citizens. Suffering from merciless winter conditions and chronic power outages, half a million people are set to receive daily food rations, fuel, heaters, clothing, household tools, and health provisions. The State Department contributed USD1.6 million of the total sum, and its development arm, USAID, forked over an additional USD830,000. USAID entrusted the funds to on-the-ground organizations with existing operations in the country, including Save the Children, CARE, and Mercy Corps.
