Aid workers of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society have set “new records for corruption” in providing relief goods in Swat valley, according to a local representative from one of the region’s districts.
“The organisation’s staff distributed relief packages on the basis of nepotism and favouritism and the deserving people were deprived,” Mian Hassan Ahmad, representing Madyan near Swat, told a press conference on Jan. 22 at the Swat Press Club, as quoted by The Express Tribune.
The group’s aid workers have sold relief goods and pocketed the money, according to Ahmad.
