An aid worker was shot dead and his colleague was wounded after armed men ambushed their vehicles in Somalia.
The aid workers, who were working with Horn Relief, were on their way to distribute cash in the Sanaag region of the breakaway state of Somaliland when they were attacked on Dec. 4.
“Adan Ibrahim Mohamed, a security guard, was killed, and another, Abdillahi Ahmed Ali Salad, a community mobiliser, was injured during the incident,” Horn Relief said in a Dec. 6 statement.
Some 47 aid workers have been killed and 35 others have been abducted in Somalia over the last two years, AlertNet notes.
