Sixteen former and current members of Indonesia’s parliament were arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission, the country’s anti-graft body, in connection with the alleged questionable appointment of Miranda Goeltom, a senior deputy governor of the local central bank, in 2004, Reuters says, citing local media reports. The legislators allegedly received between 150 million to 1.45 billion Indonesian rupiah (USD16,600 to USD160,600) in travelers’ checks in exchange for nominating Goeltom, whose term ended in 2009.
