Between January 2016 and September 2018, IDB awarded 15,088 contracts for consulting services worth $1.3 billion. Of those, just 516 were awarded to firms and individuals based outside of Latin America and the Caribbean. The rest were awarded to local consultants, or local branches of international consultants, amounting to more than $1 billion in value.
